Earth Hour Celebration – March 2012

Held each year at 8:30pm on the last Saturday in March, Earth Hour is a WWF initiative symbolising the collective power of individuals, businesses and governments to reduce our impact on this planet.

From its beginnings in one city in one country – Sydney – Earth Hour has grown to millions of people in over 5000 cities across 135 countries.

A truly global community committed to creating a more sustainable future!

Want to be a part of it?

The first step is to sign up to show your support.

Next, plan something fun for the evening! Why not host or attend an Earth Hour Unplugged event, a great way to celebrate the evening and help raise funds for WWF. It could be anything from a private candlelit dinner party or sustainable BBQ with friends, to an acoustic concert in the local park. Click here to register or find an event.

Don’t forget to check out this year’s WWF Earth Hour Awards – celebrating grassroots community action by the people for the planet. Applications have now closed, but now’s your chance to vote for your favourite finalist in the People’s Choice Award!

Earth Hour is not about saving an hour’s electricity, it’s about uniting people to protect the planet. And the best thing? Every one of us can be a part of it.
